TMI graduates all college-bound

Eighty seniors graduated from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas on May 23 in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Collectively, the class was offered more than $9.5 million in college scholarships; all were accepted by four-year colleges and universities. In state, TMI graduates will attend schools including Baylor, Rice, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Trinity and the University of Texas at Austin. Out-of-state, graduates will matriculate at Boston College, Case Western Reserve, Duke, Georgetown, Tulane, the University of Chicago, Yale and Washington University in St. Louis, among many others. TMI Taylor Scholars honored at luncheon

New and returning recipients of the Robert B. Taylor ’39 Scholarship at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas met with trustees of the Taylor Scholarship Fund for the annual Taylor Scholars Luncheon on April 28. The newest recipient, eighth-grader Bridget Lynch, was introduced and congratulated by the trustees, all TMI alumni. George Vaughan ’75, Charles Noble ’74 and Edwin “Ted” Walker ’74 reminisced about their own experiences as TMI students and asked returning Taylor Scholars for updates on their studies and activities. Students compete in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to the following rising 12th grade students who are in the running for National Merit Semifinalist status. These students took the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met requirements to enter the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. Of some 1.5 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized in the fall; about 16,000 will go on to be name National Merit Program Semifinalists. TMI students compete at Texas State Junior Classical League Convention, Mar. 27-28, 2015

This past weekend, TMI students had the opportunity to travel to Amarillo and compete at the 2015 Texas State Junior Classical League Convention. Students from all over the state gathered at Amarillo High School on Friday, March 27, 2015 for the first round of academic tests and continued on Saturday, March 28. TMI students performed admirably! Because of their performance and due to the size of our delegation, TMI was able to place 7th overall as a Middle School in our division. TMI students win top places in classics competition

Students from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas earned honors Feb. 21 at the Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area B Convention at Reagan High School. Twenty-one TMI Middle School students and 18 Upper School students joined 1,200 area classics students to take part in the daylong competition. First-place ribbons and trophies went to Joey Kyle, Ancient Geography and Monuments, Level ½ A; Michael LeJune, Elementary Grammar, ½ B; Bridget Lynch, Roman Life, ½ B; and Kyle Nevitt, Reading Comprehension, ½ B. TSJCL Area B Convention 2015

This past Saturday, February 21, 2015, 21 Middle School and 18 Upper School Latin Students spent their Saturday joining 1,200 local area students at the 2015 Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area B Convention at Reagan High School. It was an early start and a very long day, but it was so worth it by the time we got to the awards ceremony. TMI poetry winner bound for state

A sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas was selected to advance to the state Poetry Out Loud competition, to be held Feb. 28, 2015, in Austin. Sophomore Alexandra Prado was the school competition’s winner; she will represent her school among students from high schools all over Texas.  Junior Sofia Miranda-Fred was named runner up and will take part in the state competition if Prado is unable to attend. The TMI competition was held Dec. 1 in the school’s Margaret M. Alkek Theater with eight contestants. TMI athletes earn state, district honors

Junior and senior athletes from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas have been recognized by the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) conference with state and district honors for fall sports. In football, DeAndre Wilson and Zachary Trevino were awarded Academic All State recognition. To qualify for this honor, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of at least 90 or 3.5 and be named to first or second All District teams.
