Lauren Chu ’13 awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

On April 4, 2022, TMI alumna Lauren Chu ’13 was awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for her potential to make significant contributions toward scientific innovation and teaching. Lauren’s research into mitochondrial functioning as a potential mechanism for cognitive decline has earned her a position among the top 12% of applicants. She will begin her tenure this June and will be an NSF fellow for the next five years. Lauren is currently working on her PhD at Penn State. TMI clay shoot boosts scholarships

8/22/2018 The TMI Alumni Association will host its 18th annual TMI Alumni Modified Sporting Clay Shoot on Friday, Sept. 7, at the San Antonio Gun Club, 928 Contour Drive. The shooting competition, which benefits student scholarships, also includes dinner and an awards program. Participants compete for prizes in team and individual categories, with additional awards for best all-alumni team and best ladies’ team. New this year is a Hot Sauce Contest, open to all, for a chance to win “People’s Choice Best Hot Sauce.” Sponsorships are still available, with opportunities for recognition throughout the event. TMI alum returns to tell students about life in Ecuador

5/2/2018–JuliaGrace Walker, who graduated last year from TMI Episcopal, returned April 26 for a daylong series of talks to Upper School Spanish classes about her experiences in Ecuador with a gap-year program, Global Citizen Year.For nine months, Walker lived with a host family in El Cabo, Ecuador, and served an apprenticeship teaching English at a high-school in a neighboring community. 10/13/2017 For the third year, alumni were inducted into the TMI Hall of Fame, a Homecoming event, and a beloved faculty member was presented with a Distinguished Servant Leader Award. The honors were given at an Oct. 7 luncheon in the TMI Refectory, with a posthumous award given at a special chapel that morning.Inductees are honored within one of the Four Pillars of a TMI education: Academics, Athletics, Military and Spirituality. Alumni Association sets fundraising record at clay shoot

The TMI Alumni Association set a fundraising record at its 17th Annual Modified Sporting Clay Shoot, held Sept. 8 at the San Antonio Gun Club.With 22 teams and a total of 90 participating shooters, the event netted more than $10,000 for the TMI Alumni Association Endowed Scholarship. Shooters included alumni, faculty and staff, parents and friends of the school, as well as current members of the TMI Corps of Cadets. The first-place team consisted of Brent Clifton, Grady Engelken, Avery Kibbe of the TMI class of 2000 and Justin Kibbe, TMI 1992.
