TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas hosted Happening #125 on August 2-4 with Patrick Wickham, TMI Class of 2013, serving as rector. It was a high-energy weekend with eternal impact. The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas holds three of these events each year, and the summer event is generally the largest. Happening #124 took place this past weekend at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Wimberly, Texas, and TMI seniors, Christina Howe and Lunden Owens were the student rectors of Happening and H.I.S Love, respectively. The Bishop’s Happening Movement is a powerful instrument of renewal in the church. Its aim is to concentrate closely on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ. Ugandan bishop asks students to ‘reflect Christ’s light’

Falon Little, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been named a semifinalist in the 24th Annual Christian Athlete of the Year Awards for Texas. There are 75 female and 75 male semifinalists chosen from more than 4,500 applicants.Students are nominated by their schools’ coaches, teachers or athletic directors. Semifinalists were selected based upon their commitment to excellence in athletics, academics and demonstrated integrity in their Christian faith. TMI senior builds pad site for chapel

Dillon Bukowski, a senior at TMI, received his Eagle Scout rank at an Eagle Board of Review in November at Coker Elementary School. A member of Troop 515, chartered to St. Thomas Elementary School, Dillon and his crew built a pad site for the Seraphic Sisters at the Divine Mercy Chapel. He had previously completed several other community-service projects for the religious order and wanted to honor the Sisters with his Eagle project. His sister Corgey, an eighth-grader at TMI volunteered to beautify the new pad site by planting shrubs around it. Medal of Honor recipient shares leadership lessons

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Patrick H. TMI installs 30th headmaster in solemn ceremony

John W. Cooper, Ph.D., was installed as headmaster of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas during an Evensong service Aug. 26 in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Celebrant was the Rt. Rev. Gary R. Lillibridge, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas; the ceremony recognized Dr. Cooper’s assumption of authority as the 30th head of school since TMI was founded 119 years ago. Dr. Cooper previously was headmaster of Elgin Academy of Elgin, Ill., for 12 years; before that, he was headmaster of Wichita Collegiate School in Wichita, Kan. His tenure at TMI began in July.
