Three TMI seniors named National Merit semifinalists

Three seniors at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. They are: Hector Castillo, Saad Ehsan and Grace Westerman. All three students took the PSAT-NMSQT in 2014 and earned among the 16,000 highest scores out of two million students who took the test at that time. As semifinalists, they have qualified to go on in the prestigious scholarship competition. TMI junior selected for student medical congress

  Will Sowell, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been nominated to attend the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, to be held Nov. 14-16 in Washington D.C. Presented by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists, the Congress is an honors-only program for high-school students who want to become physicians or to go into medical research fields. TMI sophomore earns Eagle Scout rank

Andrew Snyder, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas received the rank of Eagle Scout at a Board of Review on Aug. 12. This is the highest rank attainable in Boy Scouting; only about six percent of all Scouts earn Eagle rank. Snyder is a member of Troop 1920, chartered to St. Helena’s Episcopal Church in Boerne. He will be recognized for his achievement at an Eagle Court of Honor to be held Jan. 31, 2015. TMI student recognized in national science contest

Lincoln Abbott, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas was named third runner-up for a Presidential Environmental Youth Award in environmental stewardship. Competing in Region 6 (South Central) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Abbott won an award for his “GeoEngineering” project, in which he researched different substances that would best limit the transmission of visible light and heat through the atmosphere to mitigate the effects of climate change. Students attend Texas State Junior Classical League Convention

This past weekend, April 11-12, 2014, TMI students attended the Texas State Junior Classical League Convention (TSJCL) in Austin. Faculty members Alleyne Rogers and Claudia Clark took 19 students from TMI who joined over 2,500 other Latin students from all over the state and gathered at Westwood High School for the annual TSJCL Convention. Fifteen TMI students placed in the top 10 of their academic tests. TMI senior named National Merit finalist

Susannah Wright, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition. As one of about 15,000 finalists, she was chosen from a group of semifinalists announced last September, who advanced to the next stage of the competition by meeting high academic standards as demonstrated by an application for finalist status. TMI swimmers take regional championships

The girls’ varsity swim team of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, won the TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) Division 2 Central Regional Championship Jan. 29 in the Josh Davis Natatorium at NEISD’s Blossom Athletic Center. The girls’ team bested the second-place competitor, Regents School of Austin, by 49.5 points. The TMI boys’ team took fourth place, and together, the TMI boys’ and girls’ teams also won the combined team championship. Individual swimmers also took top places in their events.
