Both varsity lacrosse coaches at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas received top district honors from the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL). Head Lacrosse Coach John Beck was named Coach of the Year for the league’s San Antonio district, and Blake Skinner was named Assistant Coach of the Year. The team clinched its third district championship in a row with a 15-3 win April 21 over Smithson Valley High School, qualifying for regional playoffs to determine the teams that will compete in playoffs for the state championship. TMI takes the Ice Bucket Challenge

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas took the big chill for charity Friday, Aug. 15, when nearly 50 faculty and staff lined up in the school’s Johnston Amphitheater to douse themselves with buckets of ice, following a nationwide trend in support of awareness of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Student Council President Isa Magraner issued the challenge on behalf of TMI’s 473 students during daily chapel earlier in the day. TMI choir director tapped for fellowship

Joseph DeLoach, choir director of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was selected to be a conducting fellow in the University of Georgia Summer Choral Conducting Institute, an intensive, weeklong program of seminars and master classes for music educators and church musicians. DeLoach was one of 12 applicants chosen to participate in the Institute, to be held June 23-27 at the university’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. TMI administrator named honorary commandant

Tracy Carter, Dean of Academic Advancement at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas was named honorary commandant of the Defense Language Institute English Language Center (DLIELC) at Lackland AFB. She was selected on the basis of a nomination package and interviews for the position. Karla Ortiz, who teaches English as a Second Language at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been accepted to the Honor Society at Lamar University, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Tracy Carter, Dean of Academic Advancement at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas was selected to participate in the next Leadership San Antonio class. TMI teacher to represent area at classical meet

Claudia Clark, who teaches Latin at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been selected by area colleagues to represent the San Antonio Classical Society at the Texas Classical Association Fall Conference to be held Nov. 2-3 at the University of Texas at Austin. The Texas Classical Association is an organization for teachers and future teachers of the classics in Texas at all levels, from elementary school through university.
