Puri completes online structural engineering courses over summer

Congratulations to freshman Krish Puri on his achievements this summer completing two online courses at Princeton University in structural engineering. TMI senior selected for Washington Youth Leadership Seminar

Congratulations to TMI senior Erik Peterson on being selected by the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC) to participate virtually in the Washington Youth Leadership Seminar to be held later this month from September 24-26. This year’s topic is on the education policy amid the COVID-19 pandemic; students from all across the nation will participate in the seminar. At TMI, Erik is involved in the gaming club, philosophy club, served as a track manager last year, and participated in TMI’s JSA. TMI welcomes four new members to its Board of Governors

TMI welcomes four new members to its Board of Governors, appointed last month by the Rt. Rev. David Reed, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Roxanne Bond holds a master’s degree in Organizational Development and is Managing Director of Human Resources and Diversity and Inclusion Officer at USAA Real Estate, where she is responsible for leading talent management efforts, executive coaching, designing and maintaining rewards and recognition, and strategic planning of workforce and cultural initiatives. TMI sophomore completes internship at research lab

Congratulations to TMI sophomore Dong-Young “Ryan” Kim on completing an internship in South Korea at a biochemistry research lab this summer, May 21-June 12, 2020. During his internship, Ryan experimented with cancer cells by testing how a new medicine affected various types of cancer cells in varying concentrations; he learned the process of Western blot experiments; and also observed and conducted various experiments of his own. He also used PCR, qPCR and other equipments to get a better picture of his future career. Ryan plans to become a biochemist/pharmacist. Five rising seniors attend Texas Boys State

Congratulations to our five rising seniors who attended the 2020 Texas Boys State Summit held virtually this summer. All five students are members of the Corps of Cadets and were sponsored by the American Legion Post 593 in Converse, TX. TMI students attending Boys State were: Josh Thayil (Cadet Battalion Commander), Leon Toursarkissian (Battalion Executive Officer), Teddy Lopez (A Company Commander), Jack Basil (B Company Commander), and Anthony Fletcher (C Company Commander). In early June, TMI Episcopal rising senior Jorge “Georgie” Velasco founded and launched The National Times (www.thenationaltimes.org), a nonpartisan online political media platform that provides a forum for the expression of political opinion.
