Gretchen Tiede ’23 was selected to attend the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar in Annapolis, MD, and the U.S. Military Academy Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) at West Point, NY, this June. Alden Stratton to play football for Pacific Lutheran University

Senior offensive lineman Alden Stratton ’22 signed on to play collegiate football for Pacific Lutheran University. After a stellar 2022 season during which he led the TMI Panthers to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the TAPPS championship game, Alden focused on continuing his playing career at the next level. J. Barron Cohoon Selected For Two Prestigious Summer Programs

J. Barron Cohoon ’23 was selected to attend the Summer Leader Experience (SLE) at the United States Military Academy at West Point and was accepted into the Air Force Academy Summer Seminar. The West Point SLE provides rising high school seniors with a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of a cadet.  As an attendee of SLE, Barron will get a taste of Cadet Life through the entire program. Homma Named Semifinalist in U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

Sara Cristina Homma, a graduating senior at TMI Episcopal, has been named one of 620 semifinalists in the 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The semifinalists were selected from over 5,000 candidates expected to graduate from U.S. high schools in the year 2022. Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, now in its 58th year, is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of their accomplishments in many areas–academic and artistic success, accomplishment in career and technical fields, leadership, strong character, and involvement in school and the community. Lauren Chu ’13 awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowship

On April 4, 2022, TMI alumna Lauren Chu ’13 was awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for her potential to make significant contributions toward scientific innovation and teaching. Lauren’s research into mitochondrial functioning as a potential mechanism for cognitive decline has earned her a position among the top 12% of applicants. She will begin her tenure this June and will be an NSF fellow for the next five years. Lauren is currently working on her PhD at Penn State.
