Civil Rights Leader Rev. Gwendolyn Webb Visits TMI

On December 6th, 2022, the Alabama Civil rights activist Rev. Webb was able to visit TMI on an invitation from the Social and Religious Studies Department.  She was overjoyed to be asked to speak at both chapels, the Corps, and with a number of the classes.  She spoke on her experiences in the Civil Rights movement as a member of the Birmingham Children’s March in 1963 and the importance of moral courage, especially from today’s youth in the face of adversity.  One of her most passionate topics was on the continued need for love in our society, and how it can bring us together … Continue reading Civil Rights Leader Rev. TMI Cheerleaders 5th Overall With Individual Honors

Congrats to the Panther Cheerleaders who represented TMI at the TAPPS State Cheer Competition on Monday!  The girls finished 5th overall with several also earning individual honors.  Senior Laney Wood was selected 1st Team All-State, Juniors Rainey Davis and Lisa Smith were selected 2nd Team All-State, and Senior Emilia Perez was selected Honorable Mention All-State.  Way to go TMI Cheer! Prosthetic Apparatus Developed in the Walker Innovation Center by Andrew Cubriel ’23

Andrew Cubriel, class of 2023, has modeled, designed, and developed a prosthetic apparatus for a patient who is partially missing a finger. Andrew himself does not have the end portion of his little finger. Using the tools and systems he learned in his I&D class Andrew has created a prosthetic that slips onto the digit that is underdeveloped and bends when curling the other knuckle of that same finger. The prosthetic does this with a simple piece of wire that is connected to a ring around his finger.
