41 Students Inducted Into TMI National Honor Society

On Thursday, January 12th, 41 new students were inducted into the TMI chapter of the National Honor Society. It was a successful and moving ceremony, and we are proud to acknowledge their academic and leadership accomplishments. Furthermore, 6 new officers were installed, including Caitie Miles ’24, Bernice Gitiche ’24, Alexandre Steunou ’24, Joaquin Espinoza ’24, Aidan Notzon ’24, and Cecile Tchandja ’24 (not pictured). Prosthetic Apparatus Developed in the Walker Innovation Center by Andrew Cubriel ’23

Andrew Cubriel, class of 2023, has modeled, designed, and developed a prosthetic apparatus for a patient who is partially missing a finger. Andrew himself does not have the end portion of his little finger. Using the tools and systems he learned in his I&D class Andrew has created a prosthetic that slips onto the digit that is underdeveloped and bends when curling the other knuckle of that same finger. The prosthetic does this with a simple piece of wire that is connected to a ring around his finger. Congratulations to two TMI Episcopal rising seniors who were chosen to participate in Boys State, sponsored by the American Legion Post 593 in Converse, TX. National Latin Exam Results

Several TMI Latin students received national recognition today as results were released for the National Latin Exam (NLE). The NLE, sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, is a 40-question, multiple-choice test with a time limit of 45 minutes, offered to students at all levels of Latin. There are questions on grammar, comprehension, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, oral Latin, and Latin in use in the modern world. TMI Students Participated in the Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Convention

This past weekend, April 8-9, 2022, TMI Latin students, accompanied by their teachers Claudia Monsalvez Clark and Alleyne Rogers, joined schools from across the state at Alamo Heights High School to take part in the annual Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Convention. The TSJCL is a state organization that is part of the larger National Junior Classical League, an organization for middle and high school students who are taking classics-related courses. National Scholastic Winners

Two TMI students received national recognition for their submissions in the National Scholastic Art and Writing Competition. The 2022 National Awards Ceremony will take place at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, June 9th, in New York City. TMI Students Return from WorldQuest

TMI sent three teams of students to this year’s Academic WorldQuest competition, sponsored by the World Affairs Council of San Antonio and hosted at the University of the Incarnate Word. Each team answered challenging questions on topics including Climate Change and Migration,  International Labor Organization, the Past Twenty Years of Afghan History, China’s Involvement with its Neighbors, US-Vietnamese Relations, and Democracy and Technology, amongst other issues.  The senior team of Indigo Keener, Evan Gardner, Farouk Ramzan, and Matthew Sutherland earned 4th-place, and came very close to the 3rd-place winners, BASIS Shavano Park.
