TMI Taylor Scholars honored at luncheon

New and returning recipients of the Robert B. Taylor ’39 Scholarship at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas met with trustees of the Taylor Scholarship Fund for the annual Taylor Scholars Luncheon on April 28.

The newest recipient, eighth-grader Bridget Lynch, was introduced and congratulated by the trustees, all TMI alumni. George Vaughan ’75, Charles Noble ’74 and Edwin “Ted” Walker ’74 reminisced about their own experiences as TMI students and asked returning Taylor Scholars for updates on their studies and activities. Returning recipients were: Aaron Cornelius, a senior; Eleanore Cole, junior; Madison Herrera, sophomore; and Ally Kotopoulos, freshman.

Awarded annually since 1950 to a rising ninth-grader, the four-year Taylor Scholarship recognizes students for “scholarship and worthy character.” Recipients are selected by the trustees. Original funds were donated by Vernon F. Taylor in memory of his son, Robert B. Taylor, a member of TMI’s class of 1939 and a decorated pilot during World War II.
