TMI seniors named Commended Students

Three seniors at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas were named Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program. William Gaines, Brianna Hernandez and Kelsey Lansdale all placed among the top five percent of students who took the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Each was presented with a Letter of Commendation on Sept. 23 during daily chapel by Upper School Division Head Bob Ridewood. TMI celebrates 120th graduation

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas celebrated its 120th graduation ceremony May 24 in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Members of TMI’s class of 2014 were offered a total of $9 million in scholarships. All 74 graduates will attend four-year colleges and universities, including Boston College, Boston University, Duke, Emory, Georgetown, Harvard, Mount Holyoke, Notre Dame, Rice, St. Olaf, UCLA, the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy (West Point), Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Washington and Lee, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, as well as Baylor, SMU, Trinity, the University of Texas at Austin, and Texas A&M University. “This is a … Continue reading TMI celebrates 120th graduation

TMI student recognized in national science contest

Lincoln Abbott, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas was named third runner-up for a Presidential Environmental Youth Award in environmental stewardship. Competing in Region 6 (South Central) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Abbott won an award for his “GeoEngineering” project, in which he researched different substances that would best limit the transmission of visible light and heat through the atmosphere to mitigate the effects of climate change. TMI cadet tapped for Girls State

Jessica Corley, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was nominated to attend Texas Bluebonnet Girls State 2014, to be held from June 15 to June 21 at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. The program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Texas, gives girls about to enter their senior year of high school an opportunity to learn how government works by performing the same duties as real office holders. Freshman twins tapped for elite science program

Hannah Wool and Julia Wool, freshmen at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, have been selected to attend the Voelcker Biomedical Research Academy at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. They are the first set of twins to be accepted into this competitive program. The Academy provides an immersive biomedical research and education and college-preparatory for San Antonio high-school students. Up to 20 rising sophomores each year are accepted to this elite three-year summer program, in which participants are paired with outstanding biomedical scientists from UTHSC-San Antonio.
