11/28/2018 TMI Episcopal junior Meredith Ervin won first place in the school’s seventh annual Poetry Out Loud recitation contest, held Nov. 26 in TMI’s Margaret Alkek Theater. Ervin received a copy of “So Far So Good: Poems 2014-2018,” by Ursula K. Le Guin, and will represent TMI in the Texas state competition.Runner-up was senior Bridget Lynch, who will take part in the state competition if Ervin is unable to attend. TMI debater wins top place in statewide contest

7/30/2018 Rachel Davis, a rising sophomore at TMI Episcopal, excelled at the Texas Great Debate, sponsored by the National Hispanic Institute and held June 7-10 at Austin College in Sherman.With a partner, Noah Adams from Central Catholic High School, Davis competed in cross-examination and placed second overall. Both were members of the San Antonio team, one of eight regional teams entered in the four-day competition. At TMI, Davis is one of two recipients in her class year of an Alkek Scholarship, the school’s only four-year, full-tuition merit award. 8th Grade students visit SAMA and the McNay

On Wednesday, October 14, the 8th grade went to visit the San Antonio Museum of Art and the McNay Art Museum in a fun-filled and inspirational interdisciplinary day. With one outing, field trip leaders Claudia Clark and Victoria Luna, along with accompanying faculty, Yuxi Lin, and Kate and Rick Faulk, were able to tie in learning objectives from Latin, Art, and World Religions to provide an excellent educational opportunity for TMI students. TMI Corps of Cadets to compete in National Youth Cyber Defense Competition

Texas Military Institute (TMI) Corps of Cadets announced its participation in the eighth season of CyberPatriot’s National Youth Cyber Defense Competition. Beginning on October 17, 2015, Cadets and students from the TMI’s high school and middle school will compete in the CyberPatriot Middle School, Open High School and JROTC Divisions against similar teams across the country. This is the first year TMI will have 5 separate teams competing and the first year it will compete in the Middle School and Open Divisions. TMI students named AP Scholars

Students and recent graduates from TMI – The Episcopal School were named 2015 AP Scholars by the College Board, which administers the Advanced Placement (AP) examinations. The AP Scholar Awards Program recognizes high-school students who have done outstanding work in AP (college-level) courses. TMI 2015 graduates Isabel Magraner and Maria Zurita received the program’s highest honor. As National AP Scholars, they earned an average score of 4 (out of a possible 5) on eight or more AP exams. Magraner currently attends Yale University, and Zurita attends the University of Chicago. Nine seniors at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship competition. They are: Lincoln Abbott, LeSean Brown, Christopher Clark, Lauren Devlin, Samantha Hobbs, Sarah Klem, Sofia Miranda-Fred, Aiden Read and Umer Salman. They were recognized during daily chapel Sept. 22 in TMI’s All Saints Chapel, where they were presented with letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. Three seniors at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas have been named semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition. They are: Hector Castillo, Saad Ehsan and Grace Westerman. All three students took the PSAT-NMSQT in 2014 and earned among the 16,000 highest scores out of two million students who took the test at that time. As semifinalists, they have qualified to go on in the prestigious scholarship competition. All five students representing TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas who attended the national convention of the Junior Classical League earned Top 10 places in competition at their respective levels.
