TMI students aid vets with patriotic dress

Students at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas collected a total of $1,899 to aid veterans with a Red, White and Blue Dress Day. Sponsored by the school’s chapter of Interact, a Rotary-sponsored youth service organization, the fundraiser allowed students who usually wear school uniforms to come to school wearing red, white and blue on Sept. 11 for a $5 donation. Funds raised are to be donated to the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas Veterans Support Fund. TMI students earn national classics honors

All five students representing TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas who attended the national convention of the Junior Classical League earned Top 10 places in competition at their respective levels. TMI graduates all college-bound

Eighty seniors graduated from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas on May 23 in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Collectively, the class was offered more than $9.5 million in college scholarships; all were accepted by four-year colleges and universities. In state, TMI graduates will attend schools including Baylor, Rice, Southern Methodist University, Texas A&M University, Trinity and the University of Texas at Austin. Out-of-state, graduates will matriculate at Boston College, Case Western Reserve, Duke, Georgetown, Tulane, the University of Chicago, Yale and Washington University in St. Louis, among many others. TMI runners finish fast at state meet

Varsity track athletes from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas captured top places in several events at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 4A state track championships, held May 9 at the Baylor University Track Complex in Waco. Freshman Ana Ross placed second in the 1000m with a time of 5:26, third in the 800m with 2:26.43 and third in the two-mile race, setting a new school record and personal best of 11:37.91. New and returning recipients of the Robert B. Taylor ’39 Scholarship at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas met with trustees of the Taylor Scholarship Fund for the annual Taylor Scholars Luncheon on April 28. The newest recipient, eighth-grader Bridget Lynch, was introduced and congratulated by the trustees, all TMI alumni. George Vaughan ’75, Charles Noble ’74 and Edwin “Ted” Walker ’74 reminisced about their own experiences as TMI students and asked returning Taylor Scholars for updates on their studies and activities. Students compete in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to the following rising 12th grade students who are in the running for National Merit Semifinalist status. These students took the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met requirements to enter the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. Of some 1.5 million program entrants, each of these students is among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants who will be recognized in the fall; about 16,000 will go on to be name National Merit Program Semifinalists. TMI students compete at Texas State Junior Classical League Convention, Mar. 27-28, 2015

This past weekend, TMI students had the opportunity to travel to Amarillo and compete at the 2015 Texas State Junior Classical League Convention. Students from all over the state gathered at Amarillo High School on Friday, March 27, 2015 for the first round of academic tests and continued on Saturday, March 28. TMI junior selected to serve on SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Youth Advisory Council

Eric Gibbons, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been selected to serve as a member of the inaugural SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Youth Advisory Council. The Council brings together young leaders from across the country, ranging in age from 14-20, to provide input and ideas to SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment and its partners regarding conservation initiatives, education programs, and strategies for reaching and engaging young people in conservation work.
