TMI Scout starts library for shelter guests

Garrett Lindemood, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest attainable in Boy Scouting, on Oct. 28 in an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at St. George Episcopal Church. Lindemood is a member of Troop 346, chartered by St. George Episcopal Church. With a crew of fellow Scouts, including TMI senior Javier Gonzalez, he collected nearly 5,000 books for readers from pre-K through middle school and delivered them to the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, along with a bookcase built for them. TMI Scout’s project contributes to community safety

Lincoln Abbott, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouting. A member of Troop 233, chartered to Leon Springs Presbyterian Church, where he received his rank Nov. 11 in an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony. For his community-service project requirement, Abbott replaced an old footbridge in Norman Vestal Park in Fair Oaks Ranch with a new, safer and more durable one. TMI students help with holiday meals for the needy

Students from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas volunteered Nov. 18 to help unload turkeys to be distributed to needy families by Hill Country Daily Bread, a Boerne aid agency. The students, including members of TMI’s Interact chapter, also helped load complete Thanksgiving meals into cars for delivery to the recipients. With the goal of educating servant-leaders, TMI requires community-service participation by all students through Interact, a Rotary-sponsored youth community-service group, or through church, Scouting or other organizations. TMI senior paddles for Parkinson’s

Brooke Dippo-Foderaro, a senior at TMI, took second place in the Paddle for Parkinson’s kayak race Sept. 1 through the Padre Island canals. She was one of more than 20 entries in the race, which raised more than $6,000 toward finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease, a slowly progressing brain disorder that affects motor skills, speech and other body systems. Teen’s advice: Stay strong to block bullies

Anyone can be the target of a bully, but no one has to accept the bully’s negative judgment. That’s the message pageant winner Presley Price conveyed to middle-school students during a Sept. 19 presentation at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas. TMI student earns Eagle Scout rank with Botanical Garden project

For a project adding a new feature to the San Antonio Botanical Garden, Wallace Schmuck, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest attainable from the Boys Scouts of America. Schmuck made plans for a new Endangered Plant bed; he and his crew of other Scouts, friends and family cleared the area, tilled and mulched the soil, irrigated the area and transplanted endangered plants there. TMI students earn Scouting’s highest rank

James “Jake” Fox and Christopher Perez, sophomores at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, were among 23 Eagle Scout rank recipients recognized at a Court of Honor held by Boy Scout Troop 809, chartered through Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church. The ceremony was held in Trinity Baptist Church; former Spur and NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson was the guest speaker.
