TMI Scout starts library for shelter guests

Boy Scout Troop 346 Scoutmaster Jim Causey congratulates TMI freshman Garrett Lindemood on achieving Eagle Scout rank.

Garrett Lindemood, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest attainable in Boy Scouting, on Oct. 28 in an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony at St. George Episcopal Church.

Lindemood is a member of Troop 346, chartered by St. George Episcopal Church. With a crew of fellow Scouts, including TMI senior Javier Gonzalez, he collected nearly 5,000 books for readers from pre-K through middle school and delivered them to the Kendall County Women’s Shelter, along with a bookcase built for them. Estimated cost of the materials, labor and books, had they not been donated, was about $7,000. Local benefactors will sustain the project.

At TMI, Garrett has been a student since sixth grade and a member of the Texas Military Institute Corps of Cadets since seventh grade. He is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and was a member this fall of the TMI varsity cross-country team.
