Lincoln Abbott of Fair Oaks Ranch, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was awarded first place March 4 at the Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair in the senior division’s Earth Science category for his project, “GeoEngineering: A Mitigation Strategy for Climate Change.” He also earned two special awards, one from the Southwest Gem & Mineral Society and the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s “Taking the Pulse of the Planet” Award. TMI freshman excels in state poetry contest

Elizabeth Holmes, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was one of five students and the only ninth-grader to make it to the semifinal round – from which a winner and runner-up were chosen – at the Poetry Out Loud state finals, held Feb. 22 in Austin. Contestants all were winners of competitions held in high schools around the state, in which students recite two poems from memory and are judged on poise, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, level of difficulty, evidence of understanding and overall performance. MS students place 3rd, US students place 4th at TSJCL

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, Latin teachers, Alleyne Rogers and Claudia Clark, sponsored 37 Latin students from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas and joined nearly 1000 other teachers and students from 26 area schools to participate in the Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area B Convention held at Roosevelt High School. TMI senior named National Merit finalist

Susannah Wright, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition. As one of about 15,000 finalists, she was chosen from a group of semifinalists announced last September, who advanced to the next stage of the competition by meeting high academic standards as demonstrated by an application for finalist status. Panther Robotics advances to South Super-Regional Championship

On Saturday, February 8, 2014, TMI Panther Robotics Team 6219 and Team 6221 competed in the Alamo FTC Regional Championship Tournament. Team 6221, Panther Bots Alpha won the Motivate Award and will now advance to the South Super-Regional Championship. The Motivate Award celebrates the team that exemplifies the essence of FTC through team spirit and enthusiasm. They show their spirit through costumes, a cheer, or strong team identity. Chris Pietraszkiewicz, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, signed a national letter of intent Feb. 5 to commit to the University of Texas at Austin, where he will be a member of the distance cross-country and track teams next year. Captain of TMI’s varsity cross-country team in 2012 and 2013, Pietraszkiewicz is a two-time TAPPS state champion, posting first-place wins in the 5000m event at the 2012 and 2013 state meets.
