City hails TMI for 120th anniversary

City Councilman Ron Nirenberg presented a proclamation recognizing the 120th anniversary of the founding of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas on Dec. 3 during a daily chapel service in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Headmaster John W. Cooper, Ph.D. welcomed the councilman, whose District 8 includes TMI, and received the proclamation from him. TMI gala to debut e-bidding

As TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas observes its 120th anniversary, the school will add new technology to its annual fundraising gala, Stars Over TMI, to be held from 6 p.m. to midnight, Oct. 5 on the school’s campus at 20955 W. Tejas Trail. The event’s theme is “Our Foundation…Our Future.” Honorees are two longtime retired TMI faculty members, Virgil Espino and Mario Rivela, who both taught at TMI for 33 years.; Rising Star awards will be presented to two outstanding younger alumni who have exemplified servant leadership, the Rev. TMI hosts Happening #125

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas hosted Happening #125 on August 2-4 with Patrick Wickham, TMI Class of 2013, serving as rector. It was a high-energy weekend with eternal impact. The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas holds three of these events each year, and the summer event is generally the largest. At Happening #125, 94 Happeners and staff lived on campus throughout the weekend, sharing their faith and worshipping God. Happening is much more than just another spiritual retreat. TMI Cheerleaders at UCA Cheer Camp

TMI cheerleaders attended the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) cheer camp at the University of Texas. Showing off their panther pride, the girls received a spirit stick every day of camp. They also received a superior and excellent ribbon. Madeline Bonilla, Hailey Carter, and Katrina Christian were named All American Cheerleaders 2013. TMI crowns Military Ball Queen

Cadet Capt. Katie Hazzard, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was crowned queen of the school’s annual Military Ball, which honors the seniors of the Texas Military Institute Corps of Cadets (JROTC). Hazzard was one of four battalion staff and company sweethearts, female cadets who are selected on the basis of resumes listing their Corps duty positions, varsity sports, extracurricular activities and honors and awards. This year’s sweethearts were: Hazzard, representing Battalion Staff; Cadet 1st Sgt. Falon Little, Alpha Company; Cadet Staff Sgt. Erica Cavazos, Bravo Company; and Cadet Sgt. Four recent graduates of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas took time from their winter break to share their college knowledge with this year’s seniors at the annual Alumni College Panel, held Tuesday, Jan. 08, in Frost Athletic Center. The returning young alumni were Kyle Bowers ’10, a junior biochemistry/premedical studies major at the University of Tulsa; Andrew Murphy ’11, a Vassar College sophomore; Morgan McMillian ’12, a freshman at Texas A&M University; and Mackenzie White ’12, a freshman in the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin. Teen’s advice: Stay strong to block bullies

Anyone can be the target of a bully, but no one has to accept the bully’s negative judgment. That’s the message pageant winner Presley Price conveyed to middle-school students during a Sept. 19 presentation at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas. TMI gala to salute Renaissance, scholarships

TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas will hold its annual fundraising gala, Stars Over TMI, on Saturday, Sept. 29, on the school’s campus at 20955 W. Tejas Trail. The evening starts at 6 p.m. and includes a cocktail hour, gourmet dinner by the RK Group, live and silent auctions, a prize drawing for tuition or $10,000 in American Express gift cards and dancing under the stars to the Second Nature Band.
