Aaron Cornelius, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, won first place in an oratorical contest at the Southwest Regional Xinos-Kudos Conference, a youth event sponsored by the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, held Feb. 22-24 in Little Rock, Ark. He represented San Antonio’s Gamma Tau chapter in the Kudos division for boys in grades nine through 12. Participants were required to speak from memory, with no more than 100 words written on note cards or paper. TMI freshman excels in state poetry contest

Elizabeth Holmes, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was one of five students and the only ninth-grader to make it to the semifinal round – from which a winner and runner-up were chosen – at the Poetry Out Loud state finals, held Feb. 22 in Austin. Contestants all were winners of competitions held in high schools around the state, in which students recite two poems from memory and are judged on poise, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, level of difficulty, evidence of understanding and overall performance. MS students place 3rd, US students place 4th at TSJCL

On Saturday, February 22, 2014, Latin teachers, Alleyne Rogers and Claudia Clark, sponsored 37 Latin students from TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas and joined nearly 1000 other teachers and students from 26 area schools to participate in the Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area B Convention held at Roosevelt High School. Susannah Wright, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition. As one of about 15,000 finalists, she was chosen from a group of semifinalists announced last September, who advanced to the next stage of the competition by meeting high academic standards as demonstrated by an application for finalist status. TMI golfer takes tournament win

Cole Solis, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, won individual honors in the Central Catholic Invitational Golf Tournament held Feb. 12 at Canyon Springs Golf Club. Out of a field of 80 high-school golfers, he finished in first place with a score of 74, five strokes ahead of his nearest competitor. This was the TMI golf team’s first competition of the season. TMI student named All American shooter

Michael Galo, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was named captain of the Sub-Junior All-American Team (ages 14 and under) of the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA). Galo had the highest number of points of all Sub-Junior shooters in registered skeet shoots across the country between Nov. 1, 2012, and Nov. 1, 2013, as well as the highest overall average based on scores in the 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 28 gauge, 410 bore and doubles events. TMI student earns black belt

Lincoln Abbott, a sophomore at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, was promoted Jan. 11 at the Boerne Paramount Taekwondo Center to a third-degree black belt in Taekwondo. To advance to this rank, Abbott, passed a six-hour promotion test including a written examination and practical applications of self-defense techniques. As part of his test, he was required to break a set number of bricks stacked on top of one another to demonstrate the ability to use techniques with both power and control.
