The TMI Lacrosse program had three players named to the All Star Showcase at the T99 Recruiting Event in Dallas last week: Carlo Miggins ’23, Patrick Miggins ’25 and Aidan Skelly ’23. Senior Showcase Will Walsh ’22, Henry Cool ’22, and Coach Skinner participated in the recent Lacrosse Central Texas Senior Showcase, featuring the top seniors in the San Antonio and Austin area. Martha Toursarkissian Accepted Into the BEAT Academy

Congratulations to rising senior Martha Toursarkissian for being accepted into the BEAT (Biomedical Excellence and Academic Training) Academy at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. This program exposes students to various research opportunities in the health sciences. Students will have interactions in human anatomy labs, medical training simulations, a close look in biomolecular technology, and direct interactions with medical faculty. Only 20 students from all who applied are selected to be a part of this program after consideration of an applicant’s GPA, transcript, recommendation from faculty, and their personal essay. Izzy DuBois Selected for the Prestigious Merci Award From the National Charity League

Congratulations to freshman Izzy DuBois on receiving the Merci Award from the National Charity League, where she served as president. During the award reception at the Witte Museum, Izzy was selected to speak about what community service means to her. She shared what motivated her to serve over 599 hours with the National Charity League’s philanthropies last year, and spoke about her initiates as Vice President of Philanthropy for the 2022–2023 year, including teaching hands-only CPR. Sophia Oliveira Accepted into the MITE Program

Sophia Oliveira ’23 was accepted into the MITE Program at The Cockrell School of Engineering at UT Austin. MITE is a five-day summer camp for high school students to discover engineering through participation in an engineering team project, hands-on activities, and interactions with engineering students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Student participants are housed in a campus dorm. National Latin Exam Results

Several TMI Latin students received national recognition today as results were released for the National Latin Exam (NLE). The NLE, sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, is a 40-question, multiple-choice test with a time limit of 45 minutes, offered to students at all levels of Latin. There are questions on grammar, comprehension, mythology, derivatives, literature, Roman life, history, geography, oral Latin, and Latin in use in the modern world. Chris Mott Signed with Sul Ross State University

Another Panther making the jump!! Christopher Mott signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Sul Ross State University in Alpine. After joining the Panther baseball team for his senior year, Christopher’s leadership and steady play helped him win TAPPS All-District honors.  As one of our most potent bats, he also set the offensive pace and kept the defense strong with his glove. His contributions to our team and our community will surely be missed, but Sul Ross is getting a true ballplayer and a wonderful person. Congrats, Christopher!  It’s a great day to be a Panther! Cadet SSG Lindsay Blanton IV Chosen as DFT Scholarship Recipient

Cadet SSG Lindsay Blanton IV ’24 was selected as a recipient of the Daedalians Flying Training (DFT) scholarship. As a program participant, Lindsay will receive ground and flight training necessary to achieve a solo flight in a general aviation fixed-wing aircraft through a partnership of the Daedalian Foundation, participating flights, and FAA certified flight schools. The Daedalian Foundation sponsors up to two qualifying students per year with funds from the Tex Hill and Les Leavoy DFT Scholarship accounts.
