Calvin Walls ’24 is an Eagle Scout

Calvin Walls ’24 earned his rank as an Eagle Scout in July 2022. Calvin has been in scouting for six years and enjoys the outdoors.  Calvin’s favorite experience was hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail, where his patrol summited 7,000-14,000-foot peaks over their four-day trip. Calvin’s Eagle Scout project involved replacing existing rotted, uneven and unsafe stairs by reforming and pouring 6,000 pounds of concrete to create the new stairs at the Judson Nature Trails. Tiede and Cohoon Receive Scholarships From West Point

Cadet 2nd LT Gretchen Tiede ’23 and Cadet 2nd LT Barron Cohoon ’23 both attended the Summer Leadership Camp at West Point this Summer and got a chance to live the life of a West Point Cadet. This program is designed to give prospective students the full experience of what life would be like as a future cadet and student at the school. Ewan Aitken Commissioned as Cadet 2nd Lieutenant

TMI was proud to recognize the hard work and servant leadership of Cadet Ewan Aitken ’23 who met all of the requirements to be commissioned as a cadet officer within the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Aitken received his oath from the Commandant of Cadets and was commissioned as a Cadet 2nd Lieutenant and will be serving as the Platoon Leader for Charlie Company for the remainder of the school year. 7th Grader Alex Srivanisan Takes 2nd place at STPGA Junior Tour

Alex Srinivasan ’28 earned second place in a field of eleven competitors in the 13-14 year old boys division at the most recent STPGA Junior Links tournament this past Sunday. He secured his placement by hitting a 9 wood 185 yards on the final par 3 to 2 feet from the hole. He made his birdie putt to close out the tournament. Congratulations, Alex! TMI Partners With Teamability To Create Affordable Access To Children

Mr. Justin Kutscherousky, Dean of Innovation and Design; Mr. Omar Valdez, Innovation and Design Faculty Member; MJ Ervin ’23; and AJ Liang ’23 spent last Saturday morning with the fantastic crew at TEAMability. TEAMability works with children with disabilities around San Antonio to create a community for those that are differently abled. They also modify everyday items to make them easier to use and more accessible for their patients. These items can include anything from toys to electronics, and more. Record Setting Year for the Female Cadets

This year, the Texas Military Institute Corps of Cadets set another record for the most female cadets participating in the optional leadership program in over 129 years. Forty-eight Lady Panthers gathered for the annual breakfast to welcome in the newest members of the Corps and share some bonding time with one another. The breakfast was organized and led by senior cadets Martha Toursarkissian, Gabby Beck, and Gretchen Tiede; Assistant Commandant Sergeant First Class Danielle Sandoval was the special guest at the breakfast where she spoke on the importance of bonding together and supporting one another. Ian Lekven Completed Science Research Writing Certification

Ian Lekven ’23 recently completed the Laureate Certification in Advanced Science Research Writing. The certification is a ten-week, ten-module, advanced scientific research writing program completed through the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.
