TMI soccer scores district, state honors

Members of TMI Episcopal’s varsity soccer teams earned TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) District II and state honors.

From men’s varsity, the following athletes were named to the first All District team: Diego Ampudia, Joseph Kuri, Patricio Parra, Harshal Patel, Tristan Smith, Santiago Vigil and Jorge Tirado Arias. Second team honors went to Simon Bruhn, Caden Fincke, Anthony Fletcher, Mario Rincon and Simon Rupe. Honorable mention was received by Matthew Arellano, Bryce Bolton, Colby Guillory and Alessandro Moya.

All State selections put Ampudia, Parra and Kuri on the first honor team, with Patel and Vigil named to the second team; and Tristan Smith receiving honorable mention.

Ampudia, Fincke and Vigil also were named Academic All State. To qualify for this distinction in soccer, junior or senior students much achieve a grade-point average of 90 or better and make the first or second All District team.

The TMI men’s team claimed its second consecutive state championship and sixth district championship this season.

On TMI’s women’s varsity soccer team, Marissa Elizondo, Julia Humphrey and Maria “Mia” Jamison made the first All District team; Marynez Cantu, Sydney Serratos and Samantha Meldner, second; and Kylie Bruehler, Kelly Jung, Elizabeth Myers and Natalie Tuten, honorable mention.
Jamison also was named to the All State honorable mention and Academic All State.
