
Members of the varsity swim team of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas scored several top-place awards at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state meet, held Feb. 15-16 at the Josh Davis Natatorium in NEISD’s Blossom Athletic Center.
Sarah McCafferty won first place in the 100-meter butterfly, dropping six seconds from her time in this event this season, and took third in the 500 freestyle event. The girls’ 400-free relay team of Emilee Bassett, McCafferty, Grace Metz and Victoria True came in fifth.
Jonathan “JAC” Clark won sixth place in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 50 freestyle, and Eric Gibbons came in 10th in the 100 backstroke. The boys’ 200 freestyle relay team of Chris Clark, JAC Clark, Gibbons and Armando Martinez placed ninth. All these swimmers, with Brooks Freeland, scored points in the meet and each scored personal-best times.
“I was overwhelmed at the performances by this team at the state meet,” said Head Swim Coach Stephanie Barnes. “We have improved so much in just a few months, it’s amazing. I couldn’t be more proud of this group.”
