Panthers garner district football honors

Eleven members of the varsity football team of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas have been awarded Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) district honors for outstanding play during the 2012 season, and some received both offensive and defensive recognition.

Senior Julian Roberts was named to the first team as linebacker and received honorable mention as an offensive lineman, and fellow senior Sailor Metz received honorable mention on the first team as a linebacker and was named to the second team as a running back. Senior Danny Gonzalez made the second team as a wide receiver and secondary.

Junior Steven Constantin made the second team as a defensive lineman and honorable mention on the second team as an offensive lineman, while fellow junior Matt Tawil received honorable mention on the first team as a linebacker and on the second team as a running back. Junior Chuy Suday made honorable mention on the second team as a defensive lineman and as a punter.

Senior Garrett Notzon was named to the second team as an offensive lineman, and seniors Jeff Jaime and Josh Trevino received honorable mentions on the second team as defensive lineman and kicker, respectively.

Sophomores Markell Henderson and De Andre Wilson both were awarded honorable mention, as wide receiver and tight end.

TAPPS player individual honors are awarded by the conference’s district selection committee. TMI plays in Division II, District 3. “It was a very successful season in a new and expanded district,” says TMI Head Football Coach Ted Constanzo. “We went from (playing) five teams last year to eight teams this year and finished with many team accolades and a winning season overall, including a 9-0 Homecoming game against St. Joseph, Victoria.”
