John W. Cooper, Ph.D., was installed as headmaster of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas during an Evensong service Aug. 26 in the school’s All Saints Chapel. Celebrant was the Rt. Rev. Gary R. Dr. Cooper previously was headmaster of Elgin Academy of Elgin, Ill., for 12 years; before that, he was headmaster of Wichita Collegiate School in Wichita, Kan. His tenure at TMI began in July.

Members of the school’s Board of Governors and Board of Trustees were present at the installation, along with current parents and students who served as acolytes, choristers, ushers or led prayers. Soloist was soprano Stephanie Lamprea, TMI class of 2009, a fourth-year student at the Manhattan School of Music.

TMI is the flagship school of the diocese and its only high school. The bishop serves as chairman of the Board of Governors.
