Gabby Beck ’23 Awarded First Place in “Inspired by KPAC”

Texas Public Radio’s “Inspired by KPAC” is an annual contest open to entrants age 13-19 from an 11-county region of south central Texas to showcase their musical performance, artistic, and writing talents inspired by classical music. TMI junior Gabby Beck was announced as a top 6 finalist in the Written Word category for her poem “Bittersweet” earlier in January. On January 22nd, she was awarded first place and $1,000. TMI junior designs and donates mask holders to dentistry students Sophia Oliveira, a junior at TMI Episcopal, created, designed, and fabricated (using a 3D printer) mask holders as a project for her Innovation and Design class. Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, dentists and other health care providers often wear two masks when treating patients. The mask holders that Oliveira designed make it easier for providers to wear multiple masks for hours, comfortably. High School Aerospace Scholars is an authentic learning experience for Texas high school juniors to engage with NASA’s mission and become the next generation of explorers. Congratulations to Lance Kahl ’22 for being named the KSAT 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week on November 29th!“Lance has been a member of the varsity football and lacrosse teams all four years of high school. He’s been named First-Team All-State defender for lacrosse and honorable mention as a running back. Lance is an active Boy Scout, participates frequently with his Youth Group at Hope Church and helps fix up low-income homes in the summer with Blueprint Ministries. Congratulations to Payton Bryant ’22 for being named the KSAT 12 Scholar Athlete of the Week on November 22nd!“Payton is a three-year member of both the varsity volleyball and tennis teams. She was named Academic All-State last year and placed third in the women’s doubles at the state tournament as a junior. Payton was also a member of the TAPPS State Championship tennis team earlier this year. She’s a member of the NHS, the Interact Club and performs community service through the San Antonio Food Bank and Uplifted Performance Training Facility.
