Flores, Kessler, and Martinez Represented TMI at the Texas Great Debate with the National Hispanic Institute

This Summer, a team of National Hispanic Institute (NHI) at San Antonio students from across the city competed in the Texas Great Debate program hosted by the NHI. For the first time ever, the Texas Great Debate was hosted at Schreiner University!  During the three-day program, they competed against their peers from across the state of Texas.

Mara Flores ’25Kevin Kessler ’25, and M. Anom Martinez ’25 represented TMI and competed in Cross-Examination.  Mara Flores and her partner won first place for Cross Examination.  Kevin Kessler and M. Anom Martinez went on to compete in Athenaeum where the San Antonio team took first place as well.

To prepare for this program, they have been meeting with our local NHI at San Antonio Alliance every Saturday since their official Induction in February. Prior to that, many of these students and their families had begun their journey with us through participation in accepted applicant mixers in December and January. Ramiro Cavazos, Sofia Garza and Kailey Kessler (Graduate) represented TMI as part of their coaching staff.

We are extremely proud of their accomplishments this Summer!
