TMI art students competed in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and we have many regional winners.
Gretchen Tiede ‘23 earned Gold Key awards on her paintings Light Years from Home and Trick or Truth. Maria Kyle’s ‘23 painting Hivemind also earned a Gold Key, the top local honor. Sara Homma’s ’22 Portfolio Las Caras de Mexico won top honors and a total of five Gold Key Awards. All of these will advance to the National Level of Scholastic Competition. National Winners will be announced in April and those pieces will be on exhibit in New York during June, with the artists to be honored at an opening reception.
Zoe Harrison’s ’24 Surreal Room, Maria Kyle’s Sugar Rush, and Sophia Oliveira’s ’23 Childhood Memory earned Silver Key Awards, as did Gretchen Tiede and Sara Homma. All of these students, as well as Gold Key winners, will be honored at a virtual ceremony on March 10, 2022.
