Ramzan ’22 and Streak-Jensen ’22 complete Boys State

Two TMI Episcopal rising seniors were chosen to participate in Boys State, sponsored by the American Legion Post 593 in Converse, TX.  Farouk Ramzan ‘22 and Campbell Streak-Jensen ‘22 completed a virtual gathering earlier this summer where they learned about city, county, and state government structures.

At Boys State, students were elected to various offices and engaged in activities such as legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs.  Some of their favorite activities were meeting all of their fellow statesmen and debating legislation on the house floor.  They also enjoyed learning the process for passing bills and getting elected to office.  Campbell was elected to the House of Representatives as a state delegate.

Farouk and Campbell both serve in the TMI Corps of Cadets. Campbell is the Cadet Command Sergeant Major and Farouk is a Cadet Second Lieutenant, he will serve as the Bravo Company Commander this year.

Farouk was selected to attend Boys Nation, held July 23-31. This prestigious invitation is extended to only four boys in the State of Texas.  Boys Nation participants have the opportunity to act as a senator and learn about government structures on the federal level.
