TMI student tapped for string ensemble

Yi Jou “Laura” Lai, an eighth grader at TMI Episcopal, has been invited to join the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio (YOSA), as a result of a successful audition.

Lai will be a member of YOSA Repertory Strings, which performs in three City Series concerts and the annual grand-finale performance, YOSApalooza, in the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts.

From New Taipei City, Taiwan, Lai has played the violin since age 8. This is her first year at TMI, where she is a Residential Life (boarding) student, and her first year in the United States.

YOSA is a citywide orchestra whose auditions are open to young musicians ages 8-20. Its programs provide instruction from San Antonio’s most respected professional musicians as well as opportunities to play in some of the world’s finest concert halls. YOSA alumni go on to play in the world’s finest orchestras and ensembles and are found working as doctors, lawyers, teachers, community leaders and business professionals.
