Chris Pietraszkiewicz, a senior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, won first place in two events at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 4A State Track Meet, held May 2 at the Baylor University Track Complex in Waco. He set new conference in two events, the one-mile event with a time of 4:19.15, and the two-mile at 9:22.66.
Phillip Greenfield, also a senior, claimed third place in the 100m event with a time of 11.29, and fellow senior Berkeley Brown finished in seventh place in the two-mile with 12;25.
Pietraszkiewicz received a gold medal and was named to the TAPPS All State first team, while Greenfield received a bronze medal and was named All State Honorable Mention.
“Seeing this group of seniors compete at State was the highlight of the season,” said TMI Varsity Track Coach Carrie Ridewood. “All three of them have worked so hard over the past four years to get to this point. They ran their best and achieved the goals they had set for themselves. They will leave TMI making a lasting impact on the track program, having set school records that will challenge future TMI track athletes.
Next year, Pietraszkiewicz will compete with the cross-country team at the University of Texas at Austin, Greenfield will be on the track and field team at Emory University, and Brown will attend Harvard.
