TMI freshman takes first at area science fair

Lincoln Abbott, a freshman at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, earned first place in engineering, senior division, at the Alamo Junior Academy of Science competition, held Feb. 9 at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

For his project, “Geo-engineering: A Mitigation Strategy for Climate Change,” Abbott conducted an experiment, wrote a project report and presented a 12-minute oral report of his findings. Judges evaluated students on creative ability, scientific thought, thoroughness, clarity, abstract, purpose, procedure, data, conclusion and presentation.

He will participate at the Alamo Regional Science and Engineering Fair, to be held March 3-5 at St. Mary’s University and at the Texas Junior Academy of Science and the International Sustainable World Energy Engineering Environment Project Olympiad to be held later this spring.
