TMI Episcopal is proud to announce the hiring of John Stringer, M.Ed., CSCS, SCCC, USAW, as the school’s new full-time Strength and Conditioning Coach and Physical Education Instructor. With over thirty years of experience in NCAA Division I athletics and leading independent schools, Coach Stringer brings an unmatched combination of expertise and leadership to TMI as the school prepares to join the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) in the 2026–2027 academic year.
Coach Stringer’s college résumé includes roles at reputable NCAA Division I programs such as UCLA, Southern Methodist University (SMU), San Jose State University, Baylor University, Montana State University, and the University of North Dakota. While at North Dakota, he served as the strength coach for the men’s hockey team that won the 1997 NCAA Division I National Championship. His extensive experience working with top athletes across various sports has refined his ability to develop performance programs that prioritize strength, safety, and long-term growth.
Equally impactful is his leadership within the Dallas-Fort Worth independent school community. At Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD) and Greenhill School, both members of the SPC, Coach Stringer led strength and conditioning programs for upper school athletics. During his eight years at ESD, he managed 22 varsity teams and helped design a new athletic and wellness center. At Greenhill, he developed and implemented school-wide athletic performance plans, taught PE classes, and led a middle school leadership club. He also played a similar role at McKinney Christian Academy, combining strength programming with classroom instruction.
As TMI joins the SPC, Coach Stringer’s familiarity with the conference and its member institutions offers a significant advantage. His understanding of the SPC’s competitive standards, which emphasize academic-athletic balance and focus on student-centered growth, will be vital in helping TMI navigate this transition with confidence.
“I’m excited to join TMI Episcopal and be part of a community rooted in tradition, excellence, and character,” said Stringer. “Helping student-athletes grow stronger physically, mentally, and spiritually is my passion, and I’m honored to contribute during this important chapter in TMI’s athletic development.”
TMI Athletic Director Peter Casey stated, “John Stringer’s combination of NCAA DI and SPC school experience makes him the perfect choice to lead our strength and conditioning efforts. His presence offers both technical expertise and a deep understanding of the values that define TMI and the SPC. We are excited to welcome him to the Panther family.”
Coach Stringer holds a Master of Education in Exercise and Sport Science from Southwest Texas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS), the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (SCCC), and USA Weightlifting, and holds Texas teaching certifications in Physical Education and Health Education.
Please join us in welcoming Coach John Stringer to TMI Episcopal.
