TSJCL AREA B Results

On Saturday, February 27, 2021, TMI Latin students competed at the annual Texas State Junior Classical League (TSJCL) Area B Convention, which is a part of the National Junior Classical League – an organization of middle school and senior high school students sponsored by the American Classical League. It is the largest Classical organization in the world today. Its purpose is to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of Classical antiquity. With that purpose in mind, San Antonio area Latin teachers collaborated to ensure the convention took place despite COVID restrictions, and so the convention was held online. Thanks to the efforts of so many people, area Latin students could still test their mettle and compete against 26 area schools. As expected, TMI Latin students shone in their academics: 63% of our US Latin students who competed and 100% of our MS Latin students who competed earned top 5 awards. Here are the results:
