Congratulations to the following students who were honored in chapel on Friday, November 13, 2020, for their achievements in being recognized by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Program.
National Hispanic Recognition Program
In keeping with the College Board’s mission to help students take advantage of the opportunities they have earned, each year the National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes approximately 7,000 academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT. These students become eligible through the cut score they achieved on their PSAT for their region, their cumulative GPA which is at least a 3.5, as well as successful completion of the verification and application. This is a recognition that can be included on college applications because colleges use this recognition to identify academically exceptional students for their programs.
Today we are proud to recognize four outstanding seniors: Rachel Davis, Anthony Fletcher, Teddy Lopez and Erik Peterson
National African American Recognition Program
The College Board also recognizes outstanding African American high school juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT. These students become eligible through the cut score achieved on the PSAT for their region, their cumulative GPA which is at least 3.5, as well as successful completion of the verification and application. This is a recognition that can be included on the college applications because the colleges use this recognition to identify academically exceptional students for their programs.
Today we are proud to recognize Anthony Fletcher
National Merit Scholarship Commended Students
National Merit Commended Students have demonstrated exceptional academic promise based on their junior year PSAT performance. In 2019, over 1.5 million juniors took the PSAT exam nationwide. Of those 1.5 million, 50,000 were identified as the highest scoring students in the nation. That group is further separated into achievement categories, one of which is Commended Students.
We are very happy to recognize Jonathan Adams and Joshua Thayil as a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student for the Class of 2021.
