TMI junior chosen for national football team

12/20/2018 TMI Episcopal junior Evan Stanford has been selected to play in two bowl games showcasing top talent in high-school football. A linebacker on TMI’s varsity football team, he was chosen to play on the defensive line in the U.S. Under-19 Select Team at the International Bowl X, Jan. 11, 2019, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas and in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, Jan. 14 at NRG Stadium in Houston. Earlier this month, Stanford was named by Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) coaches to all-state honor teams for both defense and offense.

USA Football is the sport’s national governing body; as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, the organization manages U.S. national teams for international competition. Blue-Grey Football hosts combines and bowl games at venues all over the country, most in stadiums and practice facilities that are home to NFL teams. Bowl games, which may be televised or streamed, give high-school athletes exposure as well as an opportunity to develop their skills with the event’s coaching staff.
