5/1/2018–The Middle School Spanish Club of TMI Episcopal raised $1,280 for the Pulsera Project, a nonprofit organization that partners with U.S. schools to sell colorful bracelets (pulseras in Spanish), handwoven by artisans in Guatemala and Nicaragua.TMI middle-school student volunteers sold the bracelets April 23-26 during their “flex time” free period, raising $1,010 to which the Upper School Spanish Club donated an additional $200.

Funds raised for the Pulsera Project, headquartered in Charleston, S.C., support fair-trade jobs as well as housing, health-care and educational programs for more than 200 artisans in Central America, investing proceeds from bracelet sales to create lasting change in their communities.

Since 2009, Pulsera Project volunteers have raised more than $4,000,000 through pulsera sales in more than 2,100 schools in all 50 states to create jobs, empower Central American communities and provide engaging educational programs both in the U.S. and Central America.
