Michael Galo III, a junior at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas won a top place in the National Skeet Shooting Association’s World Championships, which began Sept. 28 at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio.
More than 750 shooters took part in the weeklong event. Galo broke 546 out of 550 targets, a score that earned him Fifth Place High All Around. Competing against shotgunners from all over the world, including shooters from the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army teams, he also shot 100 out of 100 in the Doubles Event, 149 out of 150 in the 12 gauge, 100 out of 100 in the 20 gauge, 98 out of 100 in the 28 gauge, and 99 out of 100 in the 410 bore.
At TMI, Galo is a sergeant first class in the Corps of Cadets (JROTC), where he also is a member of the rifle team and participates in the color guard at events.
