The swim team of TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas won several top places in both individual and team events at the Dec. 7 Alamo Area High School Swim League meet at Palo Alto College.
Juniors Jonathan “JAC” Clark and Sarah McCafferty, team co-captains, both won double firsts; Clark in men’s 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly and McCafferty in women’s 500-yard freestyle and as a member of the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay with junior Tori True and freshmen Emilee Bassett and Grace Metz, who also won the women’s 200-yard medley relay.
Freshman Eric Gibbons won the men’s 100-yard backstroke; sophomore Anna Webb, in her first swim meet, took first place in the women’s 100-yard breaststroke, and sophomore Armando Martinez placed first in the 200 freestyle.
Another first place went to the TMI men’s 200-yard medley relay team of Gibbons, Martinez, JAC Clark and freshman Chris Clark.
The TMI girls’ team came in second place in Division C, only three points out of first place; and the boys also came in second.
“We are improving so quickly, I am constantly changing my team goals and expectations,” said Head Swim Coach Stephanie Barnes. “Most of all, I am so proud of their team spirit. They watch all of their teammates compete, cheer for them and congratulate them afterward.”
