Congratulations to TMI cadets Kevin Nash, Garrett Riesz, Ian Vaughn and Ryan Vaughn for proudly representing TMI in the National CyberPatriot V Competition! They successfully completed Round 1 on Saturday, November 3, and will advance to Round 2, scheduled for November 30-December 1.
By now you may be wondering, what is CyberPatriot? “CyberPatriot is the national high school cyber defense competition created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to excite, educate, and motivate the next generation of cyber defenders and other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduates our nation needs.” (www.uscyberpatriot.org)
Currently in the United States we are experiencing a dangerous shortage of citizens who are trained to work in the STEM fields, particularly in the area of Computer Science. CyberPatriot is designed inspire students in grades 9-12 to pursue a degree in this vital industry.
Our TMI team is coached by Major Douglas McVey and sponsored by The Taurean Corp. Cadets met at The Taurean Corp Boerne location at 10:00 Saturday morning and worked tirelessly to complete Round 1, finishing about 8:00 p.m. Parent and Taurean Corp volunteers included Hilda Garza, Jeff Jaime, Karen West and Brian Genda.
