Jake Wittschiebe, a seventh-grader at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, helped his regional team win the first-ever Texas Junior Cup Matches, held Oct. 20-21 at the Northwood Club in Dallas.

Wittschiebe was chosen from among six 12-year-old players to play on the South Texas PGA team, which defeated the North Texas PGA team by a score of 17½ to 6½ during 12 single matches.

With a partner, Wittschiebe won his four-ball match Saturday and took it to the final hole to win his singles match Sunday.

He played in seven South Texas PGA tournaments last summer, taking first place in five of them and second place in the other two.

Wittschiebe also helped Texas win the Tex/Mex Cup on July 4-6 at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and won the Texas Junior Masters at Brackenridge Golf Course.
