Both the boys and girls Panther tennis teams secured another district title on their way to defending their 2021 dual TAPPS state championships. With this most recent performance, the boys notched their 5th straight and 7th overall district title over the last 7 years, and the girls also extended their dominance with a 5th straight and 6th overall. TMI Episcopal senior Christian Cuellar signed his National Letter of Intent to play collegiate tennis at Division I University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. Christian leaves TMI as the most decorated tennis player in school history as well as being the driving force behind this year’s dual boys and girls TAPPS 5A state championships. With outstanding individual performances by our seniors and deep bracket runs by both of our doubles teams, TMI Panther Tennis achieved dual boys and girls state championships at the TAPPS 5A tournament earlier this week. After qualifying a school record of 12 participants for the state tournament, TMI locked up both state titles before play even started on the second day! Congrats to our players, coaches, and tennis parents on a wonderful conclusion to the tennis season. 3/24/21 – Congratulations to all 12 TMI Tennis players on qualifying for the TAPPS state tournament at the 5A Division 4 District Tournament on Tuesday, March 23. The TAPPS state tournament will be held in Waco, April 6-7. Our TMI Tennis team athletes have had their eyes set on the state tournament this entire season and their hard work and determination showed at the District tournament on Tuesday. TMI placed 1st and 2nd in every division with the exception of Girls Singles, where they placed 1st and 3rd.
