TMI Episcopal Names Trenton Wesson as Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach

TMI Episcopal is thrilled to announce the appointment of Trenton Wesson as the school’s new Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. A graduate of the Episcopal School of Dallas (ESD), Wesson brings over ten years of coaching experience, a proven track record of success, and a strong commitment to developing student-athletes, leadership, and character.

As a student-athlete, Wesson was a standout multi-sport athlete at ESD, excelling in football, baseball, basketball, and track. During his senior year, he played as the starting quarterback, point guard, and shortstop. He served as team captain in all three sports as well, leading the Eagles to back-to-back SPC football championships, a landmark moment in the school’s athletic history, and an early sign of his leadership on and off the field.

Wesson most recently served the past three years as the Varsity Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach at All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth. During his tenure, he led the offense to the State Championship game in two of those three years, and a 14-0 undefeated season in 2024, clinching the TAPPS 5A State Championship and averaging 42 points per game. Under his guidance, every quarterback he coached progressed to the collegiate level, including the 2024 District Player of the Year.

Before achieving varsity success, Wesson built a broad coaching foundation at various levels. At All Saints, he served as the offensive coordinator for the middle school football team, where he was responsible for offensive design, practice planning, and position-specific instruction. His leadership also extended to the junior varsity program, where he served as the offensive play caller and coached the quarterbacks and running backs. In both positions, Wesson emphasized fundamentals, player development, and fostering a positive team culture.

In addition to football, Wesson coached both the boys’ and girls’ junior varsity basketball teams at All Saints and worked as an elementary physical education teacher. Early in his career, he played a key role in revitalizing the football program at Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, where he helped guide the team to an appearance in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) championship game.

Wesson’s coaching style focuses on attention to detail, fostering meaningful relationships, and supporting the overall development of young people. His offensive system is recognized for its flexibility and high efficiency. He holds certifications in NIL compliance and athlete branding from the Neely School of Business at TCU and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas State University.

Trenton Wesson comes from a family steeped in leadership, education, and athletics. His father, Ricky Wesson, was the first Black quarterback in Southern Methodist University (SMU) history. His mother and sister were both dedicated schoolteachers, and his identical twin brother is a successful basketball coach. That legacy of service, trailblazing, and mentorship continues through Trenton’s work with young athletes.

This appointment comes as TMI prepares to rejoin the Southwest Preparatory Conference in the 2026–27 academic year. With Wesson’s deep experience in SPC environments, he is uniquely positioned to lead the Panthers into this next chapter.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Trenton Wesson to TMI,” said Peter Casey, TMI’s Athletic Director. “His track record, values, and energy are exactly what our community needs. Trenton is more than a coach, he’s a mentor and a program-builder who will help us continue to grow TMI athletics the right way.”

“It’s an honor to join a school with TMI’s incredible history and culture,” said Wesson. “I’m excited to meet our students and families, build a winning program, and do things the right way, with purpose, discipline, and heart.”
