[February 5, 2025, San Antonio, TX] TMI Episcopal is excited to announce a transformative partnership with local architectural leaders, Ford, Powell & Carson (FPC), and Marmon Mok, to design and construct a new athletic fieldhouse. This innovative facility will further elevate TMI’s commitment to developing student-athletes and supporting the school’s strong tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and community engagement.
TMI launched its most aggressive capital campaign, Building Momentum, in 2022 to address critical infrastructure needs, including the renovation of Coates Hall (now Harthan Hall), the academic centerpiece of the campus. To date, the first part of the capital campaign is fully funded, and now TMI will continue its momentum with the synergy around the athletic fieldhouse. TMI’s growth continues to thrive, driven by athletic successes across multiple sports, a #1 ranking on Niche.com as the Best Private High School in San Antonio, and a robust increase in enrollment.
Fr. Scott Brown, President of TMI Episcopal, shared his enthusiasm: “The addition of the athletic fieldhouse marks another exciting chapter in TMI’s legacy. With the success of our capital campaign, we have set a precedent for growth that prioritizes the development of the whole student. This project perfectly aligns with our vision to provide outstanding facilities that inspire excellence among our student body. The momentum at TMI is undeniable, and the timing of this next step couldn’t be more ideal.”
The fieldhouse, thoughtfully designed to benefit both athletes and the broader student body, has plans to include a gymnasium with approximately 1,200 seating capacity, a state-of-the-art sports performance center with an outdoor training turf, a sports medicine and rehabilitation facilities, a nutritional center, dedicated meeting spaces, and areas for team strategy and community-building.
Peter Casey, Athletic Director at TMI, highlighted the significance of the project: “This facility will be a transformative addition to TMI Athletics. It will give our student-athletes the tools they need to excel on and off the field, fostering growth in their physical performance, teamwork, and leadership skills. The fieldhouse will also be a central hub for our school community, reflecting the excellence we strive for in everything we do.”
Adam Reed, Principal at FPC and TMI alumnus Class of 2003, is proud to collaborate with Marmon Mok on this project for his alma mater. “FPC is thrilled to team up with our design partners and TMI Episcopal to reimagine the future of athletics with a state-of-the-art field house. The momentum behind the school’s athletic achievements is undeniable—and this project marks a bold leap forward for TMI’s continued path towards excellence.”
Shawn Bacon, Principal at Marmon Mok, shared: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with TMI on the development of the new field house. At Marmon Mok, we are committed to designing spaces that foster community, innovation, and growth. Working alongside TMI, we’re proud to contribute to a facility that will provide a lasting impact on students, athletes, and the entire community for years to come. Together, we’re creating more than just a building – we’re building the future of athletic excellence.”
This latest project builds on TMI’s recent successes, a testament to its 131-year legacy, and a nod to its future. It reflects the school’s commitment to providing top-tier facilities and experiences that foster leadership and excellence across all areas of campus life.
FPC and Marmon Mok are collaborating with TMI Episcopal to complete a feasibility study that will guide the development of this transformative project.
