TMI Episcopal is proud to announce the hiring of Lucas Peters as the school’s next Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. Peters brings championship-level experience and a proven record at both the high school and collegiate levels as TMI prepares to enter the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) starting next fall.
Coach Peters joins TMI after serving as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas (2021–2025), where he helped lead the program to multiple SPC Championships in 2022, 2024, and 2025, and a runner-up finish in 2023. During his tenure at Kinkaid, Peters oversaw recruiting and academic support while implementing new systems and processes that elevated program performance. He also developed multiple All-State and All-American student-athletes.
Before joining Kinkaid, Peters served as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator at University Lab School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (2018–2021), leading the program to the 2021 Louisiana State Championship and three consecutive state semifinal appearances (2019–2021). His offenses ranked among the state’s best, and he coached multiple All-State and All-American athletes while strengthening the program through recruiting support and overall program development.
Coach Peters’ collegiate coaching experience includes Texas State University (2017–2018) as an Offensive Assistant working with tight ends and wide receivers, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University (2012–2016) as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator. At OPSU, he helped transform the program by setting school records in scoring and total offense, coaching multiple All-Americans, and leading the program to its first winning season and national ranking in 30 years.
“I’m honored and grateful to accept my position at TMI,” said Peters. “My family and I can’t wait to join the TMI community. I’m committed to raising the standard and building a football program that TMI will be proud of. I’m excited to turn TMI into the premier program in San Antonio and one of the best in Texas.”
TMI Athletic Director Peter Casey emphasized the importance of Peters’ leadership as TMI transitions to the SPC and continues to strengthen its athletic programs.
“Lucas Peters is a proven leader who understands what it takes to compete and win at the highest level,” said Casey. “His championship success at Kinkaid in the SPC, along with his collegiate coaching background and ability to develop student-athletes, makes him the ideal coach to lead TMI into this exciting new era. As we enter the SPC next fall, Coach Peters brings the experience, vision, and energy to build a football program that reflects TMI’s excellence. In his role as Athletic Coordinator, Lucas will also help elevate our entire athletic department by strengthening culture, expectations, and alignment across all sports.”
A Texas native from Pleasanton, Peters earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise & Sports Science from Texas State University, where he played quarterback for the Bobcats in 2008. He earned his Master of Science in Sports Administration from East Central University in 2009. He and his wife, Lisa, have two daughters, Blake (4) and Kennedy (2). Coach Peters will officially begin his role at TMI on February 2nd.
