3/24/21 – Congratulations to all 12 TMI Tennis players on qualifying for the TAPPS state tournament at the 5A Division 4 District Tournament on Tuesday, March 23. The TAPPS state tournament will be held in Waco, April 6-7.
Our TMI Tennis team athletes have had their eyes set on the state tournament this entire season and their hard work and determination showed at the District tournament on Tuesday. TMI placed 1st and 2nd in every division with the exception of Girls Singles, where they placed 1st and 3rd. It is an extraordinary accomplishment to have every team member qualify for the state tournament and shows the quality and depth of our 2021 Men’s and Women’s tennis teams.
The results of the district tournament are as follows:
BOYS SINGLES:
- Christian Cuellar ’21, 1st Place; successfully defended his district singles title from 2019
- Jay Perry ’24, 2nd Place
BOYS DOUBLES
- Huey Huang ’21 and Jorge Garcia ’21, 1st Place
- Jorge Velasco ’21 and Aidan Notzon ’24, 2nd Place
GIRLS SINGLES:
- Lulis Barba ’23, 1st Place
- Sofia Galindo ’22, 3rd Place
GIRLS DOUBLES:
- Payton Bryant ’22 and Elizabeth Wray ’21, 1st Place
- Ayden Parish ’22 and Hannah Barrow ’22, 2nd Place
